What is wrong with you, Michigan?
In other news, I’ve been home for about an hour and need to go to bed to do it all over again in 7 hours. Texas can’t come soon enough.

A seriously loud jackass has camped out in the empty office next to mine. I am ready to throttle him and smash his speakerphone to smithereens.
This has been a cranky post.

Message I just received on OKStupid
i can see from your photos you need some good luving
Pretty sure I just got called an uptight prude. Hawt. Or nawt.
Bridesmaids = robbed.
Seriously, who is the hottie with Octavia Spencer? He is GORGEOUS. And totally adorable.
Billy Crystal, you are ruining When Harry Met Sally for me tonight. I will only ever be able to see you in blackface, making fat-shaming jokes. Boo to you, sir. I say, boo.

My boss was one of them! I thought they did a great job
Nice! I usually have to watch the red carpet stuff on mute, because the interviews are so awkward that they make me uncomfortable, but this year they really did a good job.
Ashley Judd as a kick-ass former spy? I am SO there.

Serious kudos to ABC for assembling possibly the least annoying red carpet team ever. They’re actually pretty charming and not terribly awkward.
Apparently I’m all about the weight loss TMI tonight. Under the cut.
Things that happen when you lose 80 pounds: You can’t drink like you used to. Big time. Wow. Is this what the rest of you have been talking about this whole time? Damn.
I am at marie’s with my brother. Come on down!

Underthings galore!
Weight-loss related stuff under the cut.
I FINALLY went shopping for new underwear this week, after being fitted for new bras last week. (I’ve gone from a 44 to a 36 in the last eight months.) My underwear have literally been hanging off of me, so it was time. I went to Victoria’s Secret, which made me feel both good (I didn’t used to fit into their stuff) and bad (because...

I do NOT understand why one would live in a suburb of NYC and never visit?
Because people get really comfortable with the mall and chain food.
And not moving much in general outside of a car. I won’t speak for the NJ suburbs, but CT suburbs are...

First non-13-hour workday in weeks.
Yay! I am home and hand washing some delicates and might even read a little before going to bed at a reasonable hour. It’s a miracle!

My mom just called me to talk about Jonathan Franzen’s New Yorker piece about Edith Wharton, and what a sexist jerk he is. Go Mom!

Prepped a discussion document for tomorrow. Wrote three blog posts. Put on pants for the delivery guy.

Rufus! Rufus! Rufus! Does Opera! Opera! Opera!

I was there, too! But I must say: I was a bit disappointed. The music was great, but I found it really slow and wished he’d taken advantage of going a bit more over the top! Enjoyable either way.
Yes, the first act was a bit draggy, right? I loved the duet in the second act, though - and the angry,...
Or, I’ll go home, which is about 1,000 times more reasonable.
Um…I’m in Brooklyn. Am pondering Marie’s Crisis. In like an hour. Anyone?

Just saw Rufus Wainwright’s opera Prima Donna at BAM. It was wonderful in places, odd in others, marvelously theatrical all the way through. I’d expect nothing less.
The man himself came out for the curtain call in a sort of bullfighter’s costume. Amazing.

Second date time!
Am seeing Merrily We Roll Along. So far have run into a jerk from Marie’s who once touched my boobs to shut me up and a friend from college. Is there nothing else happening tonight?

4+ hours later.
Music still blaring, and is now accompanied by annoying friends. Thisclose to pulling an annoying neighbor move and asking them to STFU. I know it’s not the middle of the night, but come ON.

Just fund out that my cousin - to whom I’m pretty close but who I never see due to her job as a hotshot chief resident in OB/Gyn - is pregnant and hasn’t gotten around to telling me. Currently trying to decide on the most obnoxious/funny way to tell her I know.
A mailed note that says only, “Is there something you wanted to tell me?” is on the list, as is a copy of What To...

The 22-year-old who moved in next door to me late last year has a) terrible taste in music and b) a tendency to blare it at random times when I should be able to enjoy a cup of coffee in peace.
God, I’m a fogey. And god, is she annoying.
Why does my personal life always get interesting just when work is getting most insane? Is it some sort of joke I play on myself?
When asked why Draper has never made a pass at office vixen Joan, played by...
– Hm. I kind of don’t want anything to happen between Don and Joan. I mean…I hate when series start pairing up ALL the regular cast members romantically (I’m looking at YOU The Office and YOU Parks & Rec, Tom and Ann?? Terrible). It just seems lazy to me.
Like, well we don’t know what to do next...

– - How To Wage A Culture War, GOOD
Well, huh. See, I think most people would find covering any of Roy Blunt’s health care needs to be morally objectionable, so he might just be shooting himself in the foot there.

First date report.
Adorable. Lots of potential. Thinks I’m prettier in person. Wants to get together this weekend, even though it’s to go to Sondheim, and he doesn’t like musical theater. So…not too shabby.
Also, you guys are the best! Thanks for the good vibes.
First date jitters. Eep!

golden-notebook:
Men being “marginalized” for not getting to be leaders in feminist spaces, one of the only spaces that actually centers women’s leadership.
Not. The. Same.
This is actually similar to one of the arguments men (and some women) make to me in opposition to the continued existence of women’s colleges - that they discriminate against men. But until women are treated as...
